What types of pictures are needed to request a virtual (zoom/phone) assessment?

  • Pictures of the front and back are necessary to illustrate the condition of the item(s).

    The pictures should show the whole item, including the edges of the item. Additional detail pictures of damage are helpful.

    The pictures should be taken in daylight.

    An object indicating the item’s size is necessary, a ruler is a great option, but any commonly found object, such as a coin, can assist in providing scale.

  • Pictures of the collection in its current storage housing, as well as removed to show contents, are necessary to give a good idea of the volume and condition of the collection.

    Additional detailed pictures of material type, quantity, and condition are useful. The pictures should be taken in daylight.

  • We will review your images before we meet to discuss our findings from the visual inspections. We will provide a ballpark figure for a tentative project cost and discuss the next steps. We will also be available to answer any questions you have.

What should I expect to happen during the in-person assessment?

  • The preliminary assessment is only 15 minutes. We will review the item, provide a verbal ballpark figure and answer any questions you have during this time.

  • You don’t have to! You can bring them to us in as-in condition. You don't need to clean, organize, or prepare them for us to conduct the preliminary assessment.
