Brooke Lake

Lead Archivist, Owner and Founder of Monocurate LLC


Meet Brooke, an experienced professional specializing in archival preservation and guidance for individuals, families, and community-based organizations. With a deep passion for preservation, Brooke eagerly consults with clients, offering valuable insights and expertise on the best methods to preserve and protect their archival materials. Her comprehensive range of services includes archival assistance, paper conservation and preservation techniques, and advice on proper storage and environmental conditions.

Brooke holds a Master's degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS) with a specialization in archival management, which she earned from Simmons College. She has cultivated a diverse career in the public sector, starting as an archivist and later working as a conservation paper technician at Carrabba Conservation. Notably, she contributed her expertise to one of the largest private collections of Civil War documents in the country.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Brooke actively contributes to the archival community. She serves as a board member of the Archivists of Central Texas (ACT) and plays an integral role on the Planning Committee for the Austin Archives Bazaar. Furthermore, Brooke holds the position of Marketing Chair for the Austin Archives Bazaar and actively participates in the Society of Southwest Archivists (SSA) State Partnerships and Outreach Committee (SPOC). She maintains ongoing professional membership with the Society of American Archivists (SAA), the Society of Southwest Archivists (SSA), and the American Alliance Of Museums (AAM).

Brooke remains at the forefront of her field by continuously engaging in professional development. She regularly attends national and international conferences and workshops, ensuring she stays updated on the latest developments and industry best practices.

Outside of her professional endeavors, Brooke cherishes her time with her family. She enjoys traveling with her husband and children, and their three dogs bring added joy to their lives.

With her extensive knowledge, commitment to continuous learning, and active involvement in professional organizations, Brooke brings a wealth of expertise and a deep dedication to preserving archival materials for future generations to enjoy.

Kendall Shaw

Imaging Archivist


Meet Kendall, our in-office native Texan and Imaging Archivist at Monocurate. Armed with a Master's of Science in Information Studies (MSIS) from the University of Texas, Kendall joined our team after graduating. Her passion lies in archival preservation and digital libraries, a focus she developed during her time at UT Austin.

During her academic journey, Kendall had the opportunity to contribute to digitization projects at the prestigious Briscoe Center for American History. Combining her undergraduate background in writing and history, she revels in working with family collections, discovering the joy of piecing together stories from long-forgotten materials. Kendall firmly believes that digitization is an invaluable tool for preserving and sharing these cherished narratives.

When she's not busy at Monocurate, Kendall indulges in her love for watching old movies and immersing herself in crafting projects. With a keen eye for detail and a passion for preserving history, Kendall brings a unique blend of expertise and creativity to her role as an Imaging Archivist.
